Why Bitcoin Ordinals Are Winning Over Digital Creators

When it comes to Ordinals vs other chains, the preservation of artworks is a topic that frequently ignites debate and discussion. One of the long-standing advantages of Ordinals, often highlighted in these conversations, is their ability to safeguard NFT art from the pervasive fragility of digital storage.

Digital artist, Eka Lestienne, renowned for her vibrant and intuitive art that celebrates color and positivity, recently faced a poignant reminder of this digital vulnerability. She shared her heartbreak over the disappearance of numerous NFTs from platforms, including both her own works and cherished pieces she collected from other artists, notably those by her late friend, Jeff Roland.

This experience, however, has driven her to take decisive action.

Turning to Bitcoin Ordinals

Eka sees Bitcoin Ordinals as the solution to digital art's vulnerability. Unlike NFTs on other blockchains that link to external servers for content, Ordinals store the actual data on-chain. This ensures that once inscribed, the art cannot be lost to server failures or link rot. Bitcoin Ordinals have been hailed as “the most secure and permanent art gallery ever conceived,” offering immutable storage for a one-time fee while simultaneously reinforcing the Bitcoin network.

In response to the disappearance of her NFTs, Eka has announced two key steps.

First, she’s offering a special Bitcoin Ordinal to her Ethereum collectors as a gesture of gratitude and continuity. This not only honors her supporters but also introduces them to the benefits of Bitcoin’s permanence.

Second, Eka plans to inscribe her best Ethereum art onto Bitcoin, preserving these pieces for posterity. This action not only secures her artwork, but could also encourage the idea of inscribing the works of great artists, such as Jeff Roland, ensuring their legacies live on through the permanence of the Bitcoin blockchain.

The Ordinal Thesis Gains Traction

Eka’s experience reinforces the growing narrative within the digital art community: Bitcoin’s permanence is unparalleled. Established and aspiring artists alike are beginning to understand that all roads lead back to Bitcoin for ensuring the longevity of their creations.

And despite the scare, Eka’s story has a happy ending! She eventually found her lost images on Foundation. However, this incident serves as a stark reminder of the issue at hand.

Sometimes, mysterious forces seem to push us in the right direction, and perhaps the Ordinal Gods were hard at work tinkering with OpenSea’s servers to give Eka a glimpse into an alternate reality where her Ethereum-based artwork had fallen foul of that risk.

Eka already has various pieces and collections on Bitcoin, which you can view in the LinkTree below:

Ordinals

NodeMonkes top the volume chart today, likely fueled by light speculation that Rocktoshi’s countdown might reveal a link to the collection. However, as seen in today’s Top Posts section above, the outcome left everyone with more questions than answers.

For the Monke speculators, the good news is there’s still a chance this connection could materialize. The bad news? Whatever Rocktoshi is working on remains anyone’s guess!

Meanwhile, Clay:44 breaks into the top 5 after successfully minting out yesterday. If you were lucky enough to secure a spot on the whitelist, congratulations—you’ve done well here, with the collection nearing a 4x return.

In the lower half of the charts, the Frugs rebound nicely off the 0.001 level, up 42%. It’s still early, but these are beginning to show signs of staying power, looking likely to remain comfortably on the volume chart for the foreseeable future.

Based Angels appear to be trading at a heavy discount right now. If you’ve been eyeing an entry since they surged past 0.02, this could be your opportunity. Not financial advice—just thinking out loud!

Finally, Bitcoin Frogs return to the top 10 with 19 sales today, though they remain far from their all-time high. The question is: will they ever reclaim their former glory?

Runes

Today’s Runes volume chart mirrors yesterday’s exactly, with the same top 10 lineup in the same order!

Among the top 5, $DOG is the only one to post gains, though the losses for the remaining four are minimal and nothing too concerning.

Looking at comparisons, $DOG continues to hold strong above the $500 million market cap level—a feat few coins manage to sustain during the most recent market troubles of the past couple of months.

Considering the mindshare and prestige of those projects on other chains, this data places $DOG firmly in the conversation for top-tier status.

Coinbase wen?

Elsewhere, $DEC posts a significant 27% gain today, steadily climbing back toward a $5 million market cap.

On the flip side, SATOSHI•NAKAMOTO takes the biggest hit, dropping nearly as much as $DEC gained. Despite the dip, its X account remains active. In response to a question about the 20% premine, the account cryptically replied, “Anything is possible.”
