The Week in Review

As we close out another week, let’s dive into the most talked-about stories from Monday through Friday! Here’s what went down:

Monday: $ME Sparks a Buying Frenzy

It was $ME Eve, and anticipation for the Magic Eden airdrop reached fever pitch. Speculation about $ME’s opening price ranged from $4.50 to over $8 in pre-market trading, with debates swirling over whether traders would hold, sell, or reinvest in Bitcoin Runes. While some doubted $ME’s potential to sustain these values, sentiment remained cautiously optimistic. Bitcoin-based “memecoins” like $DOG also saw preemptive buying pressure, suggesting many were positioning themselves for a wave of incoming liquidity.

Tuesday: Quantum Fears Loom with Willow’s Breakthrough

Google’s quantum chip, Willow, created waves by solving problems in minutes that would take classical computers millions of years. This sparked concerns about Bitcoin’s cryptographic security.

Fortunately, experts reassured the community that Willow’s 105 qubits are nowhere near the millions needed to crack Bitcoin’s SHA-256 or ECDSA protocols. While quantum computing advancements are impressive, Bitcoin developers are already working on quantum-resistant solutions to safeguard the network. For now, the fortress holds strong.

Wednesday: $ME Airdrop Drama and Mixed Reactions

Magic Eden’s $ME airdrop finally launched, with 125M tokens distributed to eager claimants. While some lucky participants snagged tokens at $9 early on, the price quickly stabilized around $5 amidst trading frenzy and platform hiccups.

The rollout wasn’t without criticism, with complaints ranging from app usability issues to philosophical debates about whether it was a “true” airdrop. Despite the noise, $ME showed resilience, with trading volumes suggesting sustained interest in the ecosystem. Magic Eden’s broader vision of becoming the “Binance of on-chain trading” continues to inspire confidence.

Thursday: $DOG Inches Toward the $1B Milestone

The Rune ecosystem’s $DOG token continued its relentless push toward a $1 billion market cap. After narrowly missing the mark earlier in the week, $DOG maintained its momentum, despite lacking Tier 1 exchange listings.

Community speculation remains high that major platforms like Kraken and Coinbase may soon follow smaller exchanges in listing $DOG. If $DOG can pierce the formidable sell walls at the $1B threshold, it could catalyze a new era for the Runes ecosystem.

Friday: Pizza Pets Poised to Revolutionize On-Chain Gaming

The launch of Pizza Pets, an innovative Ordinals-based game, has set the community abuzz. This unique project combines digital pet care with social storytelling, pitting Team Ralf against Team Ninjalerts in a battle of corporate intrigue.

Players must nurture their Pizza Pets to prevent them from “dying,” creating a scarcity-driven dynamic that promises to increase demand. The game’s integration with Bitcoin Ordinals represents a bold leap forward for decentralized gaming. With its launch scheduled for Saturday, the anticipation is palpable.

An Interesting Week Ahead

Here we are now into the weekend, and the markets are looking rough out there.

Will a “Santa Rally” save us next week? Please, Mr. Christmas, we need your help.

Another Friday Wrap-Up with @CryptoLandy:

Ordinals

Wow! Congratulations to the Nakamigos team on their Fukuhedrons collection, released yesterday, which has been an absolute barnstormer of a success!

Fukuhedrons have completely dwarfed the competition for daily volume, with an astonishing 40 BTC traded since they hit secondary. This has prompted calls by some onlookers for other collections on ETH and Solana to follow suit and launch collections of their own on the motherchain.

Is this a good idea? It’s an interesting thought. Meanwhile, OG collections have suffered as attention sways away from them. Are traders selling their NodeMonkes and Puppets to get in on Fukuhedrons?

The bottom half doesn’t look great either. Apologies for repeating this lately, but it somehow keeps getting worse, and alas, we are only reporting on what you all are doing to the charts!

All jokes aside, Pizza Ninjas get a slight bid, likely off the back of Pizza Pets featuring prominently. Twelvefold by Yuga Labs re-enters the top 10 with two sales coming in for just over a combined amount of half a Bitcoin. Is something on the horizon for those?

Runes

GIZMO is down 23% in 24 hours. TWENTY-THREE PERCENT! This seems oversold by a country mile and should surely bounce back, if not by tomorrow, certainly in the next couple of days.

It’s red everywhere else, of course, as not only Runes but the wider shitcoin market continues to nuke into Hades, scaring people into capitulation.

Are we in capitulation yet though? Is there more to come? If there is, do you have dry powder at the ready? Or are you already fully allocated enough?

Following the gargantuan fall from grace for GIZMO, PUPS is having its own come-to-Jesus meeting with a 19% drop on the day. This seems even more overblown, as we know that PUPS has a huge warchest ready to use for CEX listings. What’s the holdup on this? That’s anyone’s guess.

BRO is the only Rune in the top 10 showing green, hovering just below the 8 sats mark. BRO has shown great resilience through dips and clearly has a strong team of market makers behind it.

In 10th, we see an old familiar face, FEHU. Rune #1 has disappointed holders so far, with no direction yet seemingly.

FEKU comes in at 7th, a play off the Fukuhedrons collection. This should do well, one would assume, if the Ordinals do well, but at a $60K market cap, it’s very risky.
