Magic Eden to Airdrop $362 Million Worth of $ME Tokens to Users

Magic Eden traders are set to receive one of 2024’s largest crypto airdrops, with the ME Foundation announcing plans to distribute 125 million ME tokens, worth approximately $362.5 million based on current pre-market prices. The airdrop constitutes 12.5% of the total 1 billion Solana-based ME tokens supply.

Currently valued at $2.90 per token, ME’s pre-market price has surged by 3,326% in the past 24 hours, trading at $227,231.8 in volume. Although pre-market figures are volatile, this airdrop ranks among the top 20 crypto airdrops in history, according to CoinGecko. The token generation event (TGE) is anticipated to occur in the coming weeks, with an eligibility checker set to launch beforehand.

The ME airdrop aligns with Magic Eden’s strategy to reward its cross-chain NFT platform and Bitcoin exchange users. Additionally, 225 million ME tokens are earmarked for future rewards. Users can earn ME tokens through ongoing engagement with Magic Eden’s products, marking a significant shift in its rewards system, currently based on Diamonds points. However, the exact Diamonds-to-ME conversion rate remains unclear, prompting questions from users.

Magic Eden CEO Jack Lu confirmed the token will integrate with the Magic Eden Wallet and support multi-chain use across platforms like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana. The marketplace, which has processed $1.12 billion in trading volume over the past six months, continues to lead the NFT sector with a 33% market share among other impressive stats shared in the article.

This move signals Magic Eden’s broader ambitions, leveraging its established multi-chain approach and expanding its ecosystem. Despite the excitement, users eagerly await further clarity on the token rollout and rewards conversion details. Ordinals

An interesting day for collections, as the usual top dogs, Bitcoin Puppets and Nodemonkes, are both down, while all others are up in line with this high-volume day.

The Puppets, although leading by volume, lost 4% today. Runestone sees another strong day with nearly a 20% price increase, compounding on top of yesterday’s 20% rise. Most likely, people are translating the $DOG bullishness to Runestone bullishness, with the potential of another rune being airdropped to holders in the near future. Nodemonkes close the top 3 with a minor loss of under 1%, marking the second day in a row where Nodemonkes try to close the distance on their rival Puppets.

Based Angels are at full angelic strength again with another 20% price increase. QuantumCats see a small gain, possibly spurred by the SpellVerse news and offsetting some of yesterday’s and the weekend’s losses.

Pizza Aliens prices remain fairly steady compared to yesterday, as they still hold reasonable volume, though the post-mint hype is dissipating.

Bitcoin Wizards seem unaffected by SpellVerse news at first glance, but on closer inspection, they already made a 25% price increase yesterday, which they’re strongly holding onto.

Yokai holds onto yesterday’s big win and even increases another 6%. Bitmap bounces back from yesterday’s loss with a 9% rise, and Pizza Ninjas pop back into the top 10 with a cool 10% price increase!

Runes

Another strong day for runes, with particularly impressive performance from $DOG, now over 90% of the way to becoming the first rune with a billion-dollar market cap. With a 17% move today and over $2.5M in volume, $DOG is clearly leading the pack. Total volume, while not as high as yesterday, still shows signs of sustained rune momentum.

Cypher Genesis remains strong and appears to be cementing itself as a top rune, growing 22% and securing second place by volume.

In third place, we find the once green-every-day $PUPS, which seems to be taking a breather after yesterday’s 28% increase, with a slight 2% dip today.

Memento Mori sees another massive day, living up to the hopes many holders had when minting this “Casey-rune.” The price is up an impressive 33% today.

Today’s standout story comes from SKYNET NEURAL AI, a new rune that jumped a jaw-dropping 1221%, making an epic entry into the Top 10.

Billy the BDC, Bitcoin Bro Bear, and RSIC all see minor price increases, holding onto the good profits made yesterday.

Another new entry, minted about 12 hours ago, Milo the Millionaire Gator, hovers close to its mint cost depending on the fees minters managed to secure.

Weirdly, GIZMO sees its second day of losses in a row, going against the broader trend and most expectations for this otherwise strong coin over the past few weeks.
