Uptober Starting a Vicious End Sprint

Bitcoin has just blown past $70k with conviction, potentially moving toward its highest monthly close ever in just two days. The sudden upward move triggered a short squeeze, liquidating over $143M in shorts. Over the last few weeks, bullish sentiment has been rising across all levels of the industry, except among late retail traders, as shown by the low ranking of the Coinbase app. However, ETF flows have been extremely positive, with a total of $3.46 BILLION in inflows in just three weeks.

As explained in yesterday’s newsletter, the U.S. elections also seem to have gained momentum, pushing the market in a Bitcoin-positive direction. Beyond the U.S., there are Bitcoin and crypto success stories across the globe. For example, Bhutan is close to reaching $1B in Bitcoin holdings thanks to its national mining operations, and Hong Kong has included virtual assets in its tax break policy. Bitcoin seems to be eyeing its all-time high set in March of this year, which is now only a few percent away. In countries like Mexico, Bitcoin has already hit a new all-time high due to the country’s heavy inflation.

Even the universe seems to be sending signs that the U.S. dollar’s reign as the world reserve currency is literally in freefall. You can’t make this stuff up 🤣 

On the other hand, we are seeing reports of Satoshi-era whales waking up, and the U.S. elections could potentially be a “sell the news” event.

Since no one has a crystal ball to predict the future, all we can rely on is market data, historical patterns, and some common sense. When I combine all these, I foresee a bullish Q4 overall, and possibly a bullish start to next year, albeit with the usual ups and downs.

Regardless of predictions, one thing is for sure: it’s great to see Uptober making a last-minute sprint to try and fulfill its prophecy. Let’s see where the month ends in two days!

Daily Alpha | Cardano to become a Bitcoin Layer2?

Yesterday, a confusing but intriguing message hit our X-feed. According to this post, Charles Hoskinson announced that Cardano is becoming a BTC Layer 2.

Cardano is one of the first smart contract chains to launch and is known for its scientific and methodical approach to developing its Layer 1 solutions. While it was successful in creating significant hype back in 2017 due to its early mover advantage, it wasn’t able to maintain attention because of its slow progress and inability to generate excitement, while newer chains like Solana were able to capture the market’s imagination.

In this recent conversation, Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson explained his vision of a potential “merger” of functionalities between Cardano and Bitcoin.

The news has been met with a mix of optimism and criticism, which is understandable after many years of slow progress and lackluster token performance for Cardano believers compared to other chains.

Ordinals

As was to be expected with such a massive green day for Bitcoin, some of the bullishness has spread to the Ordinal ecosystem, and most collections are experiencing a bright green day as a result.

The top collections by volume are also seeing the biggest price increases today. The two collections that have been battling to be the Apex Predictor Ordinal collection are at a stalemate at the top of the chart, with just a 10% difference in volume and no difference in price at the moment, both going for 0.144 BTC. It’s exciting to see these two giants Puppets and Nodemonkes battle it out on the charts.

Today’s free mint, KIKA, is also in the top 10, granting its minters a small 0.00019 BTC payday, excluding fees.

All other collections are showing healthy green numbers with the exception of Runestone and… wait, what? Based Angels!? After weeks of strength and outperforming many of the top collections, these Angels are today’s biggest losers while everyone else wins. This could be a buying opportunity or the beginning of a pullback after a big pump. Make up your mind and act accordingly.

Overall, it’s been a very nice day with a big jump in volume and beautiful price moves to match.

Runes

And if you thought collections were bullish, you probably didn’t see Runes yet. With a similar massive volume injection today, most Runes are up and climbing with conviction! Five out of the top nine Runes are showing double-digit price increases, with only Dog acting like a four-footed stablecoin.

Gizmo is absolutely ripping, with almost 8 BTC in volume and a 40% price boost, while Pups closes the top three with over a 20% increase.

Most established Runes are seeing nice increases and the Based Panda is making a major comeback with the highest price increase today at 43.6%.

Saiko Hamster also made a healthy 21% move, and at number nine, the former (and possibly future) U.S. president, The Donald Trump, is showing the same momentum in the markets as in the polls, increasing by 31% today.
