The race towards a sniper-free future!

Normally, we don’t report on the same company or project twice in a row. However, today’s story seems crucial in potentially saving our community from significant headaches and lost liquidity, so we had to make an exception. Sniping has become a major nuisance for most and a sport for some of our fellow traders, as many Rune and Ordinal enthusiasts have experienced firsthand over the last few months. Solving this problem offers huge value to users, and whoever does it successfully will at least temporarily attract Rune and Ordinal trading market share.

No surprise, then, that both Magic Eden and Mintify are racing to push this feature out as soon as possible.

Based on a tweet earlier today, Mintify seems to have taken the lead stating: “Try it Now“. However, when we tried to use the feature, it was blurred out and seemingly inactive.

This could be due to ongoing feedback and improvements or a phased rollout addressing last-minute bug fixes. We will keep an eye on Mintify to see if they can release a fully sniping-proof solution before October 24th, when Magic Eden is set to release their Full Mempool Protection.

After the epic success of the GIZMO•IMAGINARY•KITTEN rune, it was only a matter of time before a GIZMO collection followed. This was further fuelled by the growing trend of Ordinal projects launching runes and vice versa. Similar to the momentum we witnessed with the Ordinal Billy the Cat collection, expectations were high for GIZMO. Yesterday, the anticipated event took place—not once, but twice, with two GIZMO Kittens battling for market dominance almost simultaneously. Gizmo the Cat and Bitcoin Gizmos. Once again the little kitten who was meant to be a symbol of world peace ironically sparked division, a recurring theme that only adds to the paradoxical charm of the cheerful GIZMO kitten.

Gizmo The Cat has currently taken the lead, enjoying tremendous success on its launch day. It surpassed 1,000 pending buys on Magic Eden at its peak, claiming the #1 spot in 24-hour volume among all Ordinal collections with well over 8 BTC traded so far. However, Bitcoin Gizmo wasn’t far behind, securing the #3 position on the same list. This highlights just how hyped this little kitten has become.

The main question now is: how far can these rune-collection combos go, and what is their long-term potential?

Finally, after numerous $DOG and other rune-bull comments, along with serious recognition from Leonidas and other high-profile Rune ambassadors, the newly anointed Meme Messiah has turned his attention to runes on the motherchain. Given its strong cult-ure, it will be interesting to see how long it takes for him to become extremely bullish on this ecosystem!

Another day, another rise for the Based Angels. Their momentum has been relentless over the past week, leaving anyone waiting for a significant pullback to buy in stuck on the sidelines.

Meanwhile, most other collections are seeing price drops today, with overall volume floating around the lows of its new average range. As discussed earlier, two new cute kittens have taken the stage, further proving the influence of GIZMO and the puppet meme-cult’s power. Gizmo the cat still set in an impressive 8.3BTC in well under 24 hours.

With most collections and runes down, it seems like price action is experiencing a slight dip as the week comes to a close. This is a familiar pattern as attention shifts between different narratives. Gaming, AI and BTC for instance are all performing well, with Bitcoin nearing a 3-month high, which might be drawing attention away from our beloved Bitcoin JPEGS.

Runes

POOKA has shown it actually can be stopped after an impressive launch day. However, with the massive OMB community behind it, I wouldn’t be too sure that this pullback will last long.

$DOG is steadily holding its price after proudly flipping SATS in the BRC-20 space. Pups and BDC are today’s only winners, as we see a clear retracement in volume across the top runes. This can once again be attributed to the general rotation between narratives.

Koda Fluffington suffers another 18% loss after yesterday’s disastrous 50% drop. So far, it seems the Nodemonkes community doesn’t have the same memetic power in supporting its pets as the puppets do.

Speaking of 50% declines, today it’s Red Cat Romeo’s turn. However, after yesterday’s massive near 250% surge, it still retains some of its previous gains.

As mentioned yesterday, many new launches pop into the top 10, only to fall out of favor the next day. Remember to use your sats wisely—don’t become exit liquidity just before the big run!
