Runes Are About To Get A LOT Smarter

Well, well, well. Rune enjoyers, this one is for you! Casey Rodarmor, in the most recent episode of Hell Money has revealed a new upgrade to the Runes protocol called "Agents,” a feature that looks set to change the game entirely.

What are Agents and what do they do? Agents will essentially allow users to automate actions on Bitcoin Layer 1 based on predefined policies. In even simpler terms, Agents function like a smart contract wallet, enabling market participants to buy and sell assets without being online or relying on centralized platforms.

You know, a bit like the experience on every other chain. Yep, this seems big.

As we know, trading Runes has come with some pain points, to put it mildly. Lot splitting, mempool sniping, and clunky user experience have held back adoption. The idea that users would turn their backs on easy UX with Solana was a nice idea, but one rooted in maximalism, let’s be honest.

Thankfully though, Agents aim to solve all of that, as they will unlock true automated market maker functionality directly on Bitcoin without needing bridges, wrapped tokens, or off-chain solutions. It brings efficiency, composability, and programmability to native Bitcoin assets.

Casey gave an example during the episode, where a user could configure an Agent to act like a decentralized floor price enforcer, scooping up any asset listed below a certain threshold, or selling above one. Again, very much like how one would operate on Photon, or even a CEX. Others might set policies for dynamic auction pricing or listings that adjust based on block height.

While there's no official release date for Agents yet, the foundation is already in place with the ORD 1.0 wallet update and integration with the Bitcoin Dev Kit. These tools will support developers in building advanced features around this new capability.

While Agents won’t be plug-and-play for casual users at launch, but it’s plenty to get excited about. Lord knows you, the enjoyer of Runes, have deserved to be excited for quite some time. Here it is, have fun!

Ordinals

A rough-looking day for Ordinals, with a bit of a post-entanglement deadline hangover for Quantum Cats, although nothing too terrible, with only a 3% drop.

It’s actually worse elsewhere, with OMB and Bitcoin Puppets losing more ground at 8% and 6% respectively. NodeMonkes bucked the trend and moved up, but only by a small fraction.

Persona by Rupture Part 2 officially concluded its public mint phase a couple of hours ago. It didn’t quite sell out, but got close with 95% (517/541) minted. The remaining supply is going to the treasury and will be used to strategically advance the collection.

I personally was hoping for raffles in order for one to be strategically advanced into my wallet, but oh well!

Runes (Bitcoin Memecoins)

Amazing things happening on Runes! What a day for the faithful.

It’s been a long time since we’ve seen $DOG dethroned from the top spot; only once or twice by $MIM last month, but it’s been even longer since we saw the OG of OG Runes, $RSIC, back at number one.

Many are speculating on what’s coming on Block 888,888 for RSIC. One theory doing the rounds is that “easier Runes trading” will be introduced. How? Not sure. But if you want a schizo theory—what with the recent Agents announcement from Casey Rodarmor—what if he was the founder all along?

It’s a stretch, but that’s what Runecoin holders revel in: absolutely insane theories (perhaps driven by madness developed from the torture of the past year or so), including Elon Musk somehow being involved. 

I’m here for every one of those thoughts, they’re brilliant, even if borderline lunacy. We’ll see soon.

It goes without saying that everything else has done well on the day too (apart from $MIM, bizarre), and there are some big gainers outside the top 10 like $BAR, $BRO, $POOKA, and $GOB—all of which deserve a mention, even if they didn’t feature.

Interesting things happening on OdinFun, with practically everything down since yesterday, including OdinDog, which took a bit of a nuke on the forehead, dropping 33%.

Still, there’s a huge gap between it and second place, currently occupied by OdinGold today, but it could be any of the rest of the top five tomorrow.

SuperEx moves up 45% today and repositions into 8th. $RATS is the only other green token, claiming 10th with a nice 137% increase.
