The Beast is Stirring From Its Slumber

Before we move into the main story today, there's been a report of an important security risk you should be aware of:

Microsoft has flagged a new threat called StilachiRAT; a remote access trojan targeting over 20 crypto wallet extensions in Chrome. It silently steals private keys, login credentials, and clipboard data.

While it’s not widespread yet, it’s stealthy and capable of bypassing detection. We’ve dropped this info a lot in previous issues, but here it is again as a reminder on how to protect yourself:

• Don’t copy and paste private keys

• Avoid sketchy links and untrusted extensions

• Keep your browser, OS, and security software updated

• Use a hardware wallet (This solves many problems at the root!)

• Enable two-factor authentication wherever possible

Note: Mac users are not affected.

Now, on to the state of Ordinals!

Yesterday saw the “Persona by Rupture Part 2” mint go live, the latest collection with some hype behind it trying its luck in these conditions. At the time of writing, the public phase is 87% minted (473 out of 541).

Progress has slowed, as is sadly common these days, in part due to minters insta-listing below mint price. You can currently pick one up for 0.0085 BTC, despite the mint price being 0.00888 BTC. However, it’ll likely mint out at some point today.

Also worth noting, OnChainMonkey announced its first mint in two years, set for April 8, which will no doubt sell out resoundingly. OCM has consistently ranked in the top 10 for Ordinals volume over the past few months, even during our latest (5th or 6th? I’ve lost count) mini bear market.

And of course, the granddaddy of them all, the Taproot Wizards mint is fast approaching on March 25. Remember, today is the final day to entangle your Quantum Cats, so if you haven’t already, don’t forget!

Add that to OMB’s Black Eyes selling out (with zero official social media promo, worth highlighting) and IDIOTS minting out and holding well since; overall things are looking pretty healthy.

It also raises the question: why are all these top-tier names choosing to launch now? Do they feel the market is imminently about to turn in our favor? One or two projects could be put down to a coincidence, but maybe something more bullish is afoot?

Ordinals

Quantum Cats take a dip today, but the volume traded is a sight to behold — 7 BTC in the past 24 hours, now putting them in 2nd place across all chains following yesterday’s 4th, now only behind CryptoPunks.

Persona clocks in an impressive 1 BTC of volume as the mint nears its end. It’ll be interesting to see where the price settles once that’s out of the way.

Runestone is up 11% today and currently the number one trending collection on CoinGecko!

But RSIC Metaprotocol is stealing the show, up a massive 44% after the RuneDev started posting again ahead of Block 888,888, with Season 2 allegedly set to commence or be announced by the end of this week.

OnChainMonkey is always in the mix in the top 10, but both their collections feature today following the announcement of their upcoming mint on April 8.

Runes (Bitcoin Memecoins)

A rather flaccid (yes, flaccid) day on Runes, with most losing ground rather than gaining it. $RSIC is up 9% following the RSIC Metaprotocol lead on Ordinals.

PepOdins, a Rune on OdinFun, has miraculously appeared on Magic Eden today. However, this Rune has just 20 holders and is clearly a grift. Don’t get tricked, buy on OdinFun.

Speaking of which…

The demise of $BITCAT was swift and decisive, down another 31.5% today and pushed into 4th. Is this the last day we see it featured?

2nd spot is now up for grabs, with OdinGold taking the spot, Satoshi just behind in 3rd, and OdinCat in 5th. All are close in market cap, with only around $400k separating them.

In 6th to 10th, we’ve got some familiar names, most notably Iconfucius having a strong day, up 16%.

$SPARKS is down heavily from its ATH and looks like decent value here, considering it’s a real project with great connections behind it working hard.

Much like Sparks, there are whispers by some in the OdinFun thread in the XO Discord that GhostNode is a dark horse being slept on. Something to consider if you’re looking for some exposure.
